Shirley Ann (Rabe) Day, 82, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, March 13, 2018.
Born in White Hall on February 26, 1936, she was the daughter of John and Eileen (Chapman) Rabe.
She married Dallas J. Day in 1954 in Jacksonville. They celebrated over 50 years of marriage before his death in January of 2005. Their favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."
Shirley worked along side Dallas in the business, "Day Home Improvement" for many years. She was also employed at the Blair School in East Alton and the William BeDell Achievement Center in Wood River.
A longtime member of Abundant Life Community Church in Alton, volunteering for many activities. She had the gift of hospitality, serving many people with her delicious meals and cakes; and loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are three children and their spouses, Michael (Carol) Day of Wood River, Rev. Dennis (Rev. Maria) Day of Alton, Dr Mark (Darla) Day of Wood River; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy and Ronnie Rabe of White Hall; two sisters, Barb Schnelten of Roodhouse, Betty Smith of White Hall; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, March 18 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. A Celebration of Shirley's Life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Marks Mortuary with Rev. Dennis Day officiating.
