Ruth Ann Davenport, 78, passed away 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto.
Born in South Roxana on May 19, 1939, she was the daughter of Clyde Amos Snook and Alice (Shimchick) Williams.
She had been a cafeteria/food service worker in the Wood River-Hartford School Districts for 18 years before retiring.
Ruth Ann served as a "Foster Grandparent" in the Medora and Brighton School. She moved from Brighton to Foxes Grove in Wood River in September of 2016, where she enjoyed playing BINGO and Pinochle.
She married Edward P. Davenport on October 6, 1971 in Alton. He preceded in death.
Surviving are a daughter, Crystal (Chris) Geisen of Brighton; her very loved grandchildren, Seth Luebbert, John Carl Payne, IV; and great grandchildren, Landon, Camden and Payton Luebbert; step-grandchildren, Corey Geisen, Becky Ironwing and their families; step-children, Jody (Vicki) Davenport and Barb (Rick) Thorp and their families all of Tennessee; son-in-law, Bill Luebbert of Piasa; brother, Bobby Williams; sister, Margie Houser of California.
Her parents; husband; daughter, Tina Luebbert; and sister, Rose Martinez preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 2 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Pastor Shea Hughes will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
