Russell D. Belden, 72, passed away 1:05 a.m., Sunday, May 6, 2018 at St. Sophia Health and Rehabilitaion Center in Florissant, MO.
Born in Wood River on September 14, 1945, he was the son of Russell H. and Ethel (Scroggins) Belden.
A U.S. Army veteran and recipient of a Purple Heart, he had been a steel worker for Laclede Steel in Alton as well as a musician.
Surviving are two sons, Christopher (Cathy) Belden of Rosewood Heights, Rodney Scott Belden in Illinois; daughter, Dana Bruso of South Roxana; grandson, Matthew and a sister, Wanda (James) McCullen of St. Louis.
His parents; two brothers, John and Dennis Belden; and two sisters, Beverly Belden and Barbara McDonough preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Graveside funeral services and burial will be conducted qt 10 a.m., Friday in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana. Alton VFW Post 1308 will perform military honors. Pastor Mike Davis will officiate.
