Paul M. Grenzeback, 76, passed away 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Alton on September 22, 1941, he was the son of Paul S. and Louise (Gray) Grenzeback.
Paul had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, retiring as Postmaster. He had served on the Wood River-Hartford District 15 School Board for 12 years, four of those as Board President. As such, he was able to present his brother and two sons their diplomas.
He was a member of Holy Angels Parish Church; a long-time member of Wood River Moose Lodge #1349 and a founding member of "The Stosky Golf League"; Alton Eagles Aries 254; and coached Khoury League baseball for several years. He loved his family, his friends and life in general.
On September 8, 1962, Paul married his high school sweetheart, Mary Kay Bracken. She survives.
Surviving also are two sons, Paul Michael Grenzeback of Roxana and Keith Grenzeback of San Francisco; sister-in-law, Virginia Bracken Brown; niece, Jan (Alan) Bruha; great niece, Jennifer (Sean) Karner and their four children; great nephew, Daniel (Gillian) Durbin and their two sons; and aunts, Gail (Paul) Carr and Marsha Slaten.
His parents; brother, Mike Grenzeback; maternal grandparents, Mack and Edna Gray; sister-in-law, Lois Bracken; and brother-in-law, Charles Brown preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River. Father Donald Wolford will serve as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
