L. "Dale" Hobbs, 71, passed away at 4:11 am on Friday March 12, 2021 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He was born on March 25, 1950 in Wood River, the son of Horace Mitchell "Claude" and Linda Marie (Mouser) Hobbs.

Dale served in the U.S. Air Force. He then worked as an independent truck driver and car salesman. His hobbies were his cars, trucks and trains. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling before he became paraplegic five years ago. He loved church and attended The River of Life Church as often as he could because he had chronic pain.

He is survived by his fiance, Frances Suzette "Suzy" Ingold; two step-children, Gavin Marmino and Crystal (Nick)  Douglas; grandson, Collin Douglas;  sister, Claudine "Dean" Ozee of Elizabethtown; five nieces, Tina (Robin) Leader, Mechele Hall, Debbie (Mike) Cerkoski, Lori (Mike) Gray; nephew, John (Kim) Laux; a special friend, Dennis Floyd; and many friends and loved ones.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy D. Wallace Hobbs; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Jack Crider.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation services will be accorded.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Marks Mortuary in Wood River was entrusted with the arrangements.
