James E. Bull, 78, passed away 2:40 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton.

Born on November 4, 1939 in Peoria, he was the son of the late James S. and Myrtle (Hetzel) Bull.

A U.S. Navy veteran, He had worked in the Nealing Department of the Olin Corporation for 35 years before retiring. He was a member or the East Alton American Legion Post 7904, Alton Moose Lodge and Wood River Eagles Lodge for over 20 years, and an original member of the "Bootleggers" MC, beginning in 1974.

On October 23, 1986 in Paducah, KY, he married Christine Mansfield. She survives.

Surviving also are a son, James Bull of Wood River; three daughters, Judy Bays of Alton, Nancy Jennings of Hartford, Jackqueline Bull of East Alton; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a sister, Susie Hertz of South Roxana.

Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana with military honors presented by East Alton American Legion Post 794.
