Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Flowers, 59, passed away peacefully at 1:48 am, Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at SSM St. Louis University Hospital with his family surrounding him.
Born in Wood River on September 26, 1959, he was the son of Paul and Phyllis (Nieft) Flowers.
He had been employed at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto.
Jerry was loved by many. He enjoyed a variety of sports and coached youth baseball for many years. He enjoyed his music and living life his way.
He is survived by his sons, Jacob (Megan) Flowers of Galva, IL, Michael Flowers of Gillespie, Steven Flowers of Jerseyville and Travis Flowers (Rachel) of Wood River; four grandchildren, Kayden, Neaveh and Dexter Flowers, Riley Kypta; brother, Paul (Su Hui) Flowers of Abbeyville, AL; sisters, Pat (Randall) Holbrook, Dee (Bob) Zakrzewski all of Bethalto, Pam (Ron) Thompson and Diana Flowers all of Wood River; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Friday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto. Father Tom Liebler will officiate.
