Donald LeRoy Barnes, 82, passed away 8:30 pm, Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Fountain View Manor in Granite City.

Born on February 16, 1936 in East Alton, he was the son of Charles and Lola (Smith) Barnes.

A U.S. Army veteran, Don had been a tool and die inspector at McDonnell-Douglas for 35 years before retiring.

On August 31, 1954 in Wood River, he married Maryann Snow.  She survives.

Surviving also are a daughter, Joanna LaVine of Wood River; five grandchildren, Tyler, Tara and T.J. Robertson, Jacob and Joseph Vassos; several great grandchildren, including the apple of his eye, Raeleigh Robertson; and brother-in-law, Jerry (Ann) Snow.

His parents; daughter, Dawn Lynn Robertson; brothers, Arthur, John, Gene and Richard Barnes; and sisters, Estella Carnes, Kate Keller, Alice McClintock and Addie Sauls preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 1-4 pm, Sunday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where services will be held at 10 am, Monday.  Pastor Ronnie Johnson will officiate.

Burial will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with military honors provided by Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be made to Bethalto Church of God.
