Donald Leon Flatt, 89, surrounded by his family and dear friends, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018 at his residence.
Born on September 11, 1929 in Wrights, IL, he was the son of Earl Franklin and Rosa Florence (Chapman) Flatt.
A Korean War army veteran, he had worked as a railroad engineer at Laclede Steel for 36 years before retiring in 1991.
Don was an active member of the South Roxana Dad's Club, serving as a trustee for many years, a member of the South Roxana American Legion Post #1167 and member of the National Rifle Association.
On March 26, 1963 in Izzard County, AR, he married Stella Louise McNealy. She died August 14, 2017.
Surviving are two sons, Ricky Flatt in Little Rock, AR, Michael (Tonya) Flatt in South Roxana; two daughters, Roberta Lockhart in Carrollton, Jeanne Middleton in Breese; six grandchildren, Danny Lockhart, Matt Lockhart, Staci Militello, Laura Flatt, Michael Flatt, II, Adam Middleton; five great grandchildren, Tyler and Jessica Lockhart, Braxton Bounds, Riley Militello, Noah Militello; two great-great grandsons, Jaxon Jolly and Jonathon Lockhart; brother, Larry Flatt in Carrollton; and sister, Audra Price in Litchfield.
His parents; wife; two sons, Ronald Allen and Randy Lee Flatt;great granddaughter, Megan Flatt; great-great grandson, Jaydon Jolly; brother, Earl Flatt preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where services will be conducted at 10 am Friday. Michael Flatt will officiate.
Burial will follow with military rites in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Memorials may be made to the South Roxana Dad's Club or Greater St. Louis Honor Flight Program.
