Barbara L. Richey, 78, passed away 11:15 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Born in Hillsboro, IL on July 22, 1939, she was the daughter of Denver Wayne and Mary Elizabeth (Durr) Joyce.

Barbara had been a counselor at Wood River Township Hospital for 20 years before retiring in 1991.  She enjoyed sewing and quilting; loved animals and even more, her grandchildren.  She had been a member at Holy Angels Parish and a member of the Daughters of Isabelle.

On February 16, 1963 in Alton, she married Francis L. Richey.  He died January 19, 2011.

Surviving are two sons, Matthew Cousins of Wood River, Steven Cousins of South Roxana; daughter, Cynthia (Jerry) Cobetto of Glen Carbon; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters, Nancy Brisco and Norma Odam.

Her parents; husband; granddaughter, Allison Marie Gorsage; and three brothers, Taylor, Dallas and Henry Joyce preceded in death.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River.  Father Donald Wolford will officiate.

Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital or Alton 5 A's.
