Anthony Emil "Tony" Bosich, 99, passed away 4:20 pm, Monday, December 10, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
Born on November 19, 1919 in Granite City, he was the son of Anton and Francis (Orekovich) Bosich.
Tony was a U.S. Navy veteran and upon completion of his service, he was employed as a tinner for Standard Oil in Wood River, became an instructor for SIU-E in sheet metal, blueprints and math, then was a supervisor at the driver's license facility for the Secretary of State's Office.
Tony was elected and served 24 years as a Madison County Board member, was a Democratic Precinct Committee member for 30 in Wood River.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening; and could often be found walking or biking around town or swimming at the pool.
He married Clara Berniece Wood on October 7, 1941. She died July 30, 2017.
Surviving are two daughters, Renee Knight of Bethalto, Valerie (Ivon) Chappell of East Alton; grandson, Travis (Rachael) Bosich; and twin great grandchildren, Aliee and Wyatt Bosich.
His parents; wife; two daughters, Mary and Debbie Bosich; brothers, John and Joe Bosich; and four sisters, Catherine "Kay" Kramer, Francis Evans, Matilda Mitchell and Maria Bosich preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 9 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am, Thursday, December 13 at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River. Father Donald Wolford will officiate.
Burial will follow in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
