Alice Virginia LaTempt, 98, passed away 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Bethalto Care Center.

Born  on September 1, 1919 in Scottville, IL, she was the daughter of Mark Albert and Gertie (Stewart) Johnson.

She married Virgil LaTempt on December 31, 1935.  He died April 11, 1917.

Alice was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother who raised nine children.  She instilled God given values in all of her children and was always a strong but gentle presence to her entire family and anyone that knew her. There was always enough love and food to go around, as she was a wonderful cook and loved creating meals.  She had a great sence of humor, which was passed on to her children.  Therew was always plenty of laughter, kidding and well remembered stories in the LaTempt household.  when her husband Virgil retired, they enjoyed 20 plus years of camping and fishing with their children and grandchildren.

She had been a member of Holy Angels Parish (formerly, St. Bernnard Church) where she had been longtime member of St. Ann Alter Society.

Surviving are three sons, Virgil (Jane) LaTempt, Steve (Nancy) LaTempt, Bob (Becky) LaTempt; two daughters, Karen (Ron) Hogue, Debbie (Bob) Davis; 20 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; three sons, Terry, Danny and Rick LaTempt; daughter, Virginia Ann LaTempt; and three brothers, Donald "Jack", Albert and John Johnson.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m, Wednesday, January 31 at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River.  Father Donald Wolford will officiate,
